We’ll build a plan and set some goals early, and we’ll check in frequently to make sure we’re hitting those goals. If things change or shift, we’ll adjust our plan to make sure we stay in alignment and keep moving forward.
At first, we’ll meet once a week, every week until we see progress on your goals. I am intentional about session frequency and implementing strategies before we scale back on our sessions.
I don’t want my patients to feel like they need to be in therapy forever. Let’s spend a good three to six months on this, really dig in and do the work, and then see if we can scale back or make adjustments.
Therapy is such a personal experience for everyone and finding a therapist with the right fit is incredibly important.
My focus is first and foremost about understanding and connection. We are surrounded by virtual friends and digital communities, which can actually make us feel more isolated and alone - even if we have hundreds of “friends” in our phone and online.
I want to tune out that noise and learn about you as a person, your experiences, and your needs.
My approach is very goal driven, meaning that I want to know where we are headed. Our first session is intentionally focused on understanding what brings you to therapy, and identifying some tools and techniques to begin helping you right away.
I am fascinated by people and their stories. I worked as a Medical Social Worker for 18 years, looking at a patient’s entire lifespan and considering how each individual contributing factor, from environment and resources to macro and micro systems, played into their development.
Every person’s story is unique, and what brought us to this point can vary widely.
I am honored when people share their story with me. I welcome the opportunity to meet people where they are and allow them to show up authentically, without judgement. That is how I like to be treated too.
On the personal side, I am a voracious learner and enjoy working with my hands, from gardening to quilting and painting. My husband and I are parents to three amazing adult children, and we are always looking for new adventures and places to explore.

I received my Bachelors in Social Work from Calvin University in Grand Rapids, followed by my Masters in Social Work from Western Michigan University.
I’ve been a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) since 2007 and became a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Michigan in 2009. I became Independently Licensed in Washington in 2015 and worked as a Medical Social Worker for 18 years prior to opening my own practice.
I’ve counseled patients and their families in crisis, including medical crisis, mental health crisis, struggles with addiction, trauma, and neglect. I’ve also supported patients working through anxiety and depression, and patients navigating a new chapter in their lives or relationships.
These experiences have shaped my practice and equipped me to step into difficult spaces with you, as we focus on growth and creating a safe space to heal.
